Morabeza — The Creation
Morabeza.
In Cape Verdean Creole, this untranslatable word refers to natural grace, human warmth, a way of being in the world with lightness and generosity.
Morabeza carries this word like a promise.
It is the piece that doesn't try to impress – it touches. Sage green, off-white, deep red, warm gold – these colors are not chosen for their brilliance but for their harmony, for the way they flow into each other, for how they together tell a story that is warm, generous, and alive.
The construction of Morabeza is a progression.
The sage green bust, tightly crocheted and tied at the neckline – this initial density that anchors the piece, giving it its starting point.
Then the openwork horizontal bands that follow – off-white, deep red, warm gold – each band a breath, each color a step on a journey towards the bottom of the piece.
The openwork of each band lets light pass through, lets skin show, creating that lightness which is the hallmark of crocheted cotton in summer.
And at the back – completely bare, fastened by two braided ivory straps that cross and a tie at the waist – the piece reveals its most precious construction.
These braided straps are not just simple ties but a textile architecture, a style decision, a way of closing that is also a way of opening.
The scalloped ivory fan border at the bottom finishes the creation with that precise grace that is the workshop's signature.
Morabeza can be worn with white jeans for clear contrast, with ecru linen shorts for an absolute vacation vibe, or with a long black skirt for maximum intensity.
