Arcobaleno — The creation

The rainbow is one of nature's most universally cherished phenomena.
We seek it out after the rain, point it out to children, and attribute promises to it.
Wherever human eyes have gazed skyward, the rainbow has been a sign of something — of passage, renewal, or unexpected beauty.

Arcobaleno — rainbow in Italian — was born from this symbol.

The construction boasts absolute chromatic precision.
The very open, large-mesh square net stitch creates a network of open squares that let light pass through like a stained-glass window — each stitch in its exact place, each opening calculated.
And within this network, the colors are arranged in wide horizontal bands in a rigorous sequence: orange, red, yellow, violet, turquoise, apple green, pale pink, white — the complete rainbow, from warm to cold, from vibrant to soft.

The orange scalloped-stitch waistband grounds the piece in its warmest color.
And at the bottom, the fringes — very long, very dense, entirely multicolored — echo all the colors of the skirt in a free and lively movement.

A rainbow cascade.
When you walk, they move.
When you stop, they continue for a moment.

The cut is straight, maxi, 105 cm with fringes.
Identical front and back — because such a well-constructed piece has no hidden side.

Entirely hand-crocheted in my French workshop.
