Vaporetto — The creation

The vaporetto is Venice's water bus—the yellow and white ferry that has plied the canals since 1881, transporting Venetians from island to island, from Rialto to Giudecca, from San Marco to Murano.
There's something deeply democratic about the vaporetto: everyone gets on, everyone watches the water go by, everyone sees the same light fall on the palace facades.
It's the most beautiful public transport in the world.

Vaporetto carries that light—the light of Venice on the water.

The openwork grid stitch deploys its network of open squares across the entire piece—precise, regular, luminous, like the geometric reflections of light on the canals.
Each stitch is identical to the last. Each square corresponds to the next. And yet, the whole vibrates—because Venetian emerald green is not a simple color.
It's the color of the canal water at noon, when the sun is high and the algae give the water that deep and luminous hue all at once.

The crew neck frames the silhouette with understated elegance. The delicate long sleeves extend to the wrists—a bold choice for a crop top, indicating that this piece isn't just for summer.

It can be worn in any season, with high-waisted jeans, under a linen jacket, or with a long skirt for the evening.

Vaporetto is the crop top for those who know that elegance needs no justification.

Entirely hand-crocheted in my French workshop.
