Sweaty — The creation
Sweaty. An English name in a collection of Italian and Spanish names — a deliberate anomaly, a nod, a lightness.
Because this piece, for all its sophistication, also speaks of absolute comfort, enveloping warmth, the simple pleasure of a sweater you never want to take off.
The heathered effect of Sweaty is a material choice of remarkable complexity and beauty.
Not a monochrome heather — a heather that blends pearly cream, soft anise green, slate blue, pearl grey in each thread, so that the textile surface changes tone depending on the light and viewing angle.
In bright light, cream dominates and the piece appears bright and light.
In the shade, slate blue takes over and the piece becomes deeper, more mysterious.
This is the richness of the heather — a color that is never quite the same, that speaks of nature and the complexity of the natural world.
Sweaty's construction is a conversation between two textures. The dense textured stitch bands — thick, plush, sculpted, creating rows of regular reliefs of absolute beauty and depth.
And the openwork star stitch bands — light, ornamental, almost immaterial, six-petal floral motifs that interlock with absolute regularity and beauty.
These two textures alternate in wide horizontal bands across the body and sleeves — an alternation of density and lightness, relief and transparency, creating a rhythm of remarkable sophistication and richness.
It is this alternation that gives Sweaty its full depth — a piece that gradually reveals its complexity, that says something different depending on the distance from which it is viewed.
The scalloped collar is of absolute delicacy and lacemaker's precision — small regular waves that frame the face with natural sobriety and grace.
Not a dominant collar, but a suggestive line. The scalloped cuffs at the wrists repeat the same vocabulary with perfect coherence.
The wide multicolored ribbed band at the hem is Sweaty's structuring decision.
In wide vertical ribs that blend all the colors of the heather — cream, anise green, slate blue, pearl grey — it anchors the piece with absolute sharpness and strength, and creates a subtle and elegant peplum effect that speaks of femininity and perfect proportion.
