The white of the snow and birch trees.
The blue of the lakes reflecting the sky.
A palette of only two colors, but a palette that says it all.
Suomi is a piece that doesn't try to overdo it.
Two colors. Two stitches.
A clear and legible construction that speaks of mastery and confidence - the confidence of one who knows that you don't need much when what you have is perfect.
The background is made of white large-mesh filet stitch - open, transparent squares that let light and air pass through with absolute lightness and generosity.
It is an ideal summer stitch, a stitch that speaks of the beach and the terrace, the wind and the sun.
On the skin, Suomi is almost immaterial - you barely feel it, you see through it, it exists as a light and luminous presence.
The blue bands are the decision that transforms everything. Royal blue - not a pale and hesitant blue, but a frank, intense, almost electric blue, the blue of sailor shirts and flags, the blue that speaks of the sea and clarity.
These bands are made with shell stitch - arcs of stitches that curve with absolute regularity and delicacy, creating a wavy and ornamental texture that contrasts with the square geometry of the filet.
Three bands at the yoke - they descend from the shoulders, forming a structured and elegant yoke, visible from the front and back.
Two bands at the hem - they anchor the piece with absolute sharpness and strength.
The white scalloped hem runs all along the bottom - small, regular waves of absolute delicacy and lace-like precision.
