Squara — The creation
In the American jazz scene of the 1940s, a square was someone who didn't follow the trends, who wasn't "in the know," who remained outside the prevailing currents. It was an insult, uttered with that gentle disdain that hip people reserve for those they don't understand.
But let's take a closer look.
The square knows what they want. They don't change with every fad, nor do they allow themselves to be imposed upon by what doesn't suit them. Their style is what never goes out of style — because they've been true to themselves from the beginning. While others chase the next trend, the square has already arrived.
Squara rehabilitates the square. And wears it with pride.
The piece plays on two sides that echo each other like two moods of the same woman.
In the front, multicolored granny squares — ecru, mustard yellow, sage green, taupe gray — with their small white crochet applied flowers, their sweetheart neckline edged in mustard yellow, and their wide ecru single crochet straps. This is the garden, the softness, the assumed complexity of someone who isn't afraid of color.
In the back, a vibrant mustard yellow large-mesh square filet stitch — entirely openwork, almost immaterial, with ecru cord lacing that forms a V in the back.
This is the sun, the lightness, the transparency of someone who has nothing to hide.
