Lullaby — The creation
Ninna nanna, ninna oh — the Italian lullaby always begins this way.
A gentle swaying, a soft repetition, a voice gradually descending into silence.
In Southern Italy, in Puglia, these lullabies are still sung in the shade of ancient olive trees when the afternoon heat is too heavy to do anything but let oneself go.
Ninnananna was born there — in that blissful torpor, that suspended moment between the burning sun and the cool shade, between wakefulness and sleep.
The construction plays on two registers that respond to each other with softness.
The wide straps are made of two-tone granny squares — off-white and chocolate brown — assembled with precision, like an elegant checkerboard framing the generous square neckline.
These squares carry within them all the tradition of crochet passed down from generation to generation, from grandmother to granddaughter, like a lullaby learned without realizing it.
Then the body lightens.
The openwork filet stitch descends, light as lace, almost immaterial — letting light and air pass through, like the leaves of an olive tree filtering the sun without blocking it.
The scalloped border finishes the piece with the same softness as a lullaby's final note.
Ninnananna is worn on days when you want to be effortlessly beautiful — as if beauty came naturally, without thinking about it.
