Lutetia — The Creation
Lutetia — that's what the Romans called Paris, this city on an island in the middle of the Seine, before it became the capital of the world. Lutetia Parisiorum. The name has something ancient and elegant about it at the same time, something that carries with it the entire history of the city.
Much has been sung about the Parisian woman.
Her allure, her retroussé nose, her hat askew, her way of walking on the cobblestones as if the world belonged to her.
But no one has sung about her colors — that royal blue she wears with disconcerting obviousness, that fuchsia pink that pops up where you least expect it, that subtle gradient that transitions from one shade to another without you knowing exactly where one ends and the other begins.
Lutetia sings these colors.
The two-tone granny squares — royal blue and fuchsia pink, subtly fading to pale pink — assemble into a precise and structured grid, like the arrondissements of Paris on a map, like the Haussmannian facades that echo each other from street to street.
Each square is a conversation between blue and pink, an elegant negotiation between two colors that shouldn't have gotten along but do so perfectly.
The thin straps, the square neckline, the ribbed hem — everything is precise, controlled.
And on the back, the large mesh royal blue fishnet stitch with adjustable central lacing reveals the skin with that particular elegance that consists of showing just enough.
A piece that carries Paris within it — from the terrace to the evening.
