Illusion: The Creation
Find out more
Some creations are born from a desire for light. Illusion is one of them.
It all started with a single multicolored thread, factory-dyed in a succession of bright reds, sunny yellows, turquoise blues, deep greens, and soft violets. A thread that changes color every few stitches, without ever being able to predict exactly where each hue will appear. It is this unpredictability that gives each piece its unique character: no two Illusions will ever look the same.
The chosen stitch is an openwork geometric grid stitch – one of the most demanding crochet stitches. Each stitch fits into a network of small, regular windows that let light and sight pass through. The result is entirely transparent, almost immaterial, like an architectural lace. Working this stitch with a multicolored thread requires constant attention: one must anticipate color changes so that the geometric pattern remains legible despite the chromatic explosion.
The yarn is 100% cotton – soft against the skin, breathable, with the light drape characteristic of natural materials in summer. No lining, no structure: just the yarn, the stitch, and the hand.
Illusion can be worn with high-waisted jeans for a bold graphic contrast, or directly over a swimsuit by the sea. Under natural light, the colors change in intensity depending on the angle – this is where the kaleidoscopic effect truly comes alive, and where the name reveals itself.
Entirely hand-crocheted in my French workshop. Exclusive Cachalabibi creation – Unique piece, only one in the world.
