Florapizzo — The Creation
Florapizzo. In Italian, floral lace.
Two words that say it all: the flower, and the lightness of pizzo—the fine lace that the women of Burano would hand-stitch for hours, days, weeks, to create something as light as air and as precise as embroidery.
Florapizzo is a journey into the ether. Where nothing weighs—except the scent of flowers.
The construction is one of the most demanding in crochet: floral rosettes, crocheted individually, one by one, then assembled into an openwork mesh that connects them without crushing them.
Each flower is a piece in itself—with its center, its petals, its outlines. Then they come together, touch, hold each other, forming a fabric that isn't really a fabric: a constellation of flowers suspended in a void, connected by the finest possible thread.
The luminous pink coral captures the light differently depending on the time of day—rosy in the morning, vibrant coral in full sun, almost salmon at dusk. The square neckline with its wide, structured straps frames the bust with authority.
The back opens into a deep, elegant V that reveals the nape and shoulders. The scalloped border at the bottom finishes the piece with the same floral delicacy.
Florapizzo requires hours of work—and shows it, without ostentation.
