Ficoviola — The Creation
Fico – the fig, in Italian.
This Mediterranean fruit ripens slowly under the summer sun, turning from green to deep purple over the weeks, until its skin is taut, smooth, almost velvety.
Women in the Mediterranean basin have always known: ripe fig skin, gently rubbed on the face, hydrates and softens.
A simple, ancestral gesture, passed down unwritten – from mother to daughter, in gardens where fig trees have grown for generations.
Ficoviola was born from that purple – that deep yet soft purple, which is neither the purple of lavender nor that of iris, but exactly that of fig skin at the perfect moment of ripeness.
A purple that carries within it the warmth of the Mediterranean sun and the gentleness of a caring gesture.
The construction plays on two registers that elegantly echo each other. The bustier is made of two-tone vertical stripes – deep purple and powdery pink in a structured tight stitch – separated by a pink picot edging that precisely marks the transition.
These vertical stripes lengthen the silhouette, giving it a graphic and assertive verticality.
Then the peplum skirt takes over: the openwork deep purple mesh stitch, light and transparent, flares slightly before the powdery pink band and the scalloped violet shell border that finishes the piece.
The neckline is square – bold, generous.
Thin straps tie at the shoulders with small bows – that delicate detail that transforms a functional gesture into an ornament.
A peplum silhouette that combines structure and lightness – from day to evening.
