Daisy — The creation
In Old English, the daisy was called dæges eage — the day's eye. A perfect image for this flower that practices nyctinasty: it opens at sunrise, spreading its white petals around its yellow heart, and closes completely in the evening, like an eye closing for sleep. Each morning is a rebirth, each opening a new beginning.
Daisy features these flowers — these daisies that open on the chest like a bouquet picked at dawn, before the dew evaporates.
The construction plays on two registers that respond to each other precisely. At the top, the yokes are in ecru white hexagonal mesh stitch — openwork, transparent, light like the morning light filtering through.
At the bottom, the body is in dense teal and petrol blue tight stitch — structured, deep, solid like the night that has just ended. This contrast between the airy white and the dense blue creates a piece that embodies both moments of the day at once.
On the sides, white lacing with tied cords — an architectural detail that adjusts the silhouette with precision, like a discreet corset that knows what it's doing.
And then, the signature detail: four small multicolored crocheted flowers applied to the neckline — yellow, green, orange, fuchsia pink.
Four daisies placed there, exactly as if they had been picked along the way and slipped into the neckline without thinking.
A serious piece with a touch of whimsy — exactly as it should be.
Entirely hand-crocheted in my French workshop.
